Our Mission

With a full and rich curriculum, accomplished and passionate faculty, and professional yet family-oriented atmosphere, Brockport School of Dance & Performing Arts strives to motivate and inspire each one of their students in the art of dance.

History

Established in 1986, Brockport School of Dance & Performing Arts (BSDPA) is located in the heart of the village of Brockport. A strong sense of community service helps provide the school with a family-type atmosphere.

BSDPA is committed to offering a high standard of training in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Modern, Contemporary, Modern, Drama, Musical Theatre, and Acro. The curriculum offers a strong emphasis on form, artistry, and technique in many dance genres. All students are taught relevant dance terminology and performing skills, as well as awareness and knowledge of theatre and stage presence. From the beginning of their training, students are given a solid technical foundation while simultaneously experiencing creativity and fun. Our classes for younger students are geared toward fostering a love for dance and movement.

Students have received scholarships and invitations to participate in summer dance intensives at American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet Theatre, Chautauqua Institute, NYSSA, Lake Erie Ballet, Walnut Hill School, and the American Academy of Ballet at Vassar Collage. A high level of graduates pursue college majors in dance and theatre at institutions such as Marymount Manhattan Colleage, Kent State University, Ohio State University, Carnegie-Mellon, NYU, Nazareth College, SUNY-Fredonia, SUNY-Brockport, SUNY-Buffalo, Buffalo State, Ithaca College, and Pointe Park University among others.
